Scott won his BDO World Championship quarter-final against Brian Dawson this afternoon with a masterful display of finishing that any player, in any competition, anywhere in the world would have been proud of. During the course of the match Scott finished 142 twice, as well as 132, 129, 126 and 121 (all on the bull) on his march to a 5-2 victory in a match in which he never really looked worried.
Scott raced into a two set lead and won the first leg in the third set and was going nicely, but then Dawson found some form to win the third set and it was 2-1 in sets to Scott.
The next two sets were shared and the match seemed nicely poised at 3-2, but in fairness Scott was playing well and once the sixth set was won (now 4-2 to Scott) it was clear that there would only be one winner. Scott’s average of 96.0 is very respectable indeed and I say again, playing as controlled and as confidently as he is, he really can be crowned the BDO 2015 World Champion.
Scott now moves on to the semi-finals tomorrow afternoon (from 2:30) to play the unseeded (though he played brilliantly in the quarter-final to beat Robbie Green 5-1) Jeff Smith in the semi-final tomorrow evening.
Thanks for reading and sorry it’s a short entry, but time is tight and Scott’s matches are coming thick and fast now.
