This week I will be visiting the Bournemouth International Centre for the second week of the PDC Betway Premier League Darts.
Previously I’ve been to see the Premier League of Darts in Bournemouth about five times. In the early days of the competition (this is the eleventh season) it used to be the largest venue visited (apart from finals night). Now that the competition has become so popular, it’s one of the smaller ones, but the atmosphere is still one to be experienced, though not entirely lending itself to following a game of darts!
These are the matches I’ll be attempting to watch on Thursday…
Peter Wright v Gary Anderson – An all Scottish clash. Wright will be looking to bounce back quickly after an humiliating 7-1 defeat to Dave Chisnall in Week One with a poor 87.2 average. Anderson continued his recent good form with a closely fought 7-5 victory over The Power in Week One.
My Money’s On… an Anderson Win.
Michael van Gerwen v Stephen Bunting – van Gerwen beat Huybrechts 7-3 (107.72) in Week One and will fancy his chances against Bunting, who at least didn’t lose on his Premier League debut, drawing with James Wade. So both players go into this one unbeaten.
My Money’s On… a van Gerwen Win.
Adrian Lewis v Phil Taylor – Lewis destroyed Raymond van Barneveld 7-1 in Week One with a 113.8 average, while Taylor lost to Gary Anderson in a close game 7-6. Lewis has only won twice in the last eleven meetings against Taylor – will his recent stunning averages hold?
My Money’s On… a Lewis Win.
James Wade v Kim Huybrechts – the weakest match of the night? James Wade managed a draw against Bunting in a low(ish) quality match in Week One – so is at least unbeaten going into this match. Kim Huybrechts had a baptism of fire in his first Premier League match, losing 7-1 to van Gerwen. I think this will be a close run match.
My Money’s On… a Wade Win (just).
Dave Chisnall v Raymond van Barneveld – Chisnall beat an off-form Peter Wright in Week One 7-1. After his recent run to the Unibet Masters Final, van Barneveld was taken apart 7-1 by Adrian Lewis last time out (averaging just 85.68 – the lowest of Week One) – will that have affected his confidence in Week Two?
My Money’s On… a Chisnall Win.
Enjoy Thursdays matches if your able to watch them, at the BIC or on TV.
