The draw for the Quarter-Final of the Dubai Masters has been made, and looks a bit like this…
Michael van Gerwen v Raymond van Barneveld
Adrian Lewis v Stephen Bunting
Phil Taylor v Peter Wright
Gary Anderson v James Wade
Delayed coverage of the Quarter-Finals (best of 19 legs) can be seen on ITV4 from 9pm tomorrow evening. The Semi-Finals and Final (both best of 21 legs) will be shown from 10pm on Friday, but don’t forget to avoid the results if you don’t want the interest and excitement to be ruined!
This is the third time the Dubai Masters has been held, this first two both being won by van Gerwen. This time he opens his account against fellow countryman, Raymond van Barneveld, who he beat in the inaugural 2013 final 11-7.
Bunting and Lewis will square up in the quarter-final. Both players missed out on an appearance in finals night of the Premier League last week, so both will be looking to bounce back in a high-profile televised event such as this.
Phil Taylor and Peter Wright also both missed out on last weeks Premier League finals night – the first time ever for Taylor. Wright was last years runner-up in the Dubai Masters, so he clearly will be looking to go one better this year, but will need to get past an impressive Taylor, despite his disappointment in the Premier League.
The newly crowned Premier League Champion, Gary Anderson will take on James Wade who has been experiencing some personal issues of late.
My predictions for a berth in the semi-finals: Anderson, van Gerwen, Bunting and Taylor.
