After his World Championship win in January and being handed the England Captaincy earlier in the year, Scott Mitchell has been voted the BDO’s Player of the Year 2015.
The reward is voted for by members of the 68 BDO Counties. Interestingly, Scott was nominated by Hampshire and seconded by Glamorgan, without Dorset even needing to lift a finger. Scott was pleased with this and it’s further proof (if it was needed) what a popular BDO Champion he is.
We caught up with Scott and asked him what the award means to him…
“I’m very humbled an honoured to have won this award. To have been been recognised by BDO delegates and other counties, not just for how well I have played in this 12 months, but for my efforts in promoting the BDO and darts as a sport.
“Those who follow me on Twitter and Facebook, will know through the pictures, I take the BDO World Championship Trophy to as many places as I can, to let people be photographed with the famous trophy”.
I’m very humbled an honoured to have won this award.
Scott Mitchell on being voted BDO Player of the Year 2015
I can vouch for Scott’s commitment to getting the trophy as much exposure as he can – I’ve been to at least three events this year where Scott has turned up with the trophy – a committed and genuine ambassador of the BDO. The reward is certainly deserved in my opinion.
Have you been to any events with Scott and that trophy this year? Maybe you’d like to share them with us in the comments section below…
