History
Phil Taylor dominated this tournament for the first four years, winning all four from 2008 – 2011, beating Adrian Lewis twice (2008 & 2011), Wayne Jones (2009) and the recently resurgent Steve Beaton in 2010.
It wasn’t until the Quarter-Final of 2012 that his 22 match unbeaten run came to an end, when he lost 6-10 to Brendan Dolan in Mulheim. The Australian, Simon Whitlock won that year, beating Wes Newton in the final, 11-5.
The following year (2013), Whitlock made the final again, but this time lost out 6-11 to Adrian Lewis. Last year it was a dominant van Gerwen who took out Justin Pipe, Dolan, Dave Chisnall and Raymond van Barneveld before beating Terry Jenkins 7-4 in the final.
